Newest Bar in the Forest: The Frosty Pint

What used to be CJ's on Forest Avenue is now The Frosty Pint.

The Frosty Pint is the kind of joint where it's perfectly acceptable for a friend to walk right up to the jukebox to play "Big Poppa" while you snag a tall one on the way to the dance floor, where you'll immediately throw down the following dance moves: The Tootsie Roll, The Running Man, The Cabbage Patch, The New Kids Dance, The Vanilla Ice and, if you've got mad skillz you can get low, low, low, low, low.

You can only do this if you're a lady. The Frosty Pint's regulars are mostly guys, so if you're a dude and you come at the dance floor like that you might get your ass kicked. Okay, not really, but you won't be so warmly welcomed.

The Frosty Pint has a real homey feel. Maybe it's the big bar that wraps around with seating for near 20 people. Maybe it's the warm, orange walls. Maybe it's the collection of regulars. Whatever it is, you can cozy up at the bar, play pool, foosball or darts, dance or watch the game. Oh and there's Buzz Time, too.

First and foremost, The Frosty Pint is a sports bar. The owner, Jason Litalien, is a veteran with a long-time dream to own a bar much like the beloved Cheers! from TV. Read his story and code of ethics here.

While you're getting your game on, order something from the menu. Might I suggest some wings? They've got plenty of sauces to choose from: Buffalo, Honey Mustard, Honey BBQ, BBQ, Teriyaki, Sweet & Sour, Thai Peanut and Caribbean Mango. And if you're not into wings you can order appetizers, a burger, steak and cheese, pizzas or appetizers. Check the online menu for prices.

The Frosty Pint offers plenty of draft pints with domestics costing $2.25 and premiums costing $3.25. Drafts include Geary's HSA, Sam Adams Seasonal and Boston Lager, Shipyard Export and Seasonal, Gritty's Pub and Seasonal, Bud and Bud Light, Bass Ale, Guinness ($4.50), Coors Lite, Harpoon IPA, Labatts Blue, PBR, Long Trail Doubleback and Woodchuck Cider.

Besides drafts you can get bottled beer (check out the beer list), shots and mixed drinks. My Tanqueray & Tonic was $6. If you're trying to save money, show up during Happy Hour (4-7 pm Mon-Thurs and 4-8 pm Fri) when PBR and Bud drafts are $1.50. Or on the weekends from noon to 8 pm when domestic drafts are fifty cents.

Tuesday is karaoke night with 2 pints for the price of 1 night. Wednesday is Ladies Night with $2 well drinks for the ladies and $2.50 Coronas for everyone. There's a Celtics Special, which occurs during games and includes $2.25 16oz aluminum bottled beers. The Hockey Special is during Bruins and Pirates games with $1.50 Labatt Blue drafts and a chance to win tickets and t-shirts.

DJ Susan spins Wed-Sat, so gather up your request list (don't forget to include plenty of 50 Cent and Lil Jon). See you on the dance floor - I'll be the one krumping.

Sounds like a cool new place and I would go every night if there was a guarantee of seeing you krump! Could be my new Red Sox hangout.

Could this replace a hole in my heart where the barnyardhouse once was?

I am a regular at the Frosty Pint and I am not a guy. This bar is great. Where else can you get top shelf vodka in a drink for $6.00? The bartenders are friendly, the atmosphere is warm, the food is good, and most importantly I feel safe when I go there. My friends and I do tend to let our hair down when we go on a weekend night. The owner, Jason, has assisted us with getting a cab home more than one time. I hope to see you there.

10 parking spaces, are you joking? I've been going there since they opened and before the pile of snow arrived they had about 20 spots up front, plus 20 more out back. On the weekends I usually have to park at the vet next door, but it's alright because they share parking. Plus you can park right on Forest Ave in front. No other bar on Forest Ave has nearly the parking.

I definitely agree about the wings. I love that they do their own instead of the frozen stuff. I always get honey bbq.

I've seen Jason not only get cabs for people, but even take some of the regulars home. He lets them leave their cars there overnight.

Dalia is my favorite bartender. She is there most of the time and she is the best. She knows s as soon as we arrive and she is always pleasant. This is definitely my favorite place now. The people that work there really make it what it is.

Thanks for the update on the parking, Janet. When I was there I saw only a few spots - I'm sure it was because of the snow piles. And I wasn't aware of the parking in back - that changes everything!
