Brunswick cantina offers new tastes at every turn: El Camino, Brunswick

There's little information available explaining how or why the El Camino achieved the muscle-car celebrity status that it managed in the United States. Nevertheless, with its half-car and half-truck body, this car conjures images of kitschy dashboard figurines and laid-back road trip excursions with friends.

Not a St.-Patrick’s-day-only bar: O'Sheas, Brunswick

If you're reading this, let's hope it's still St. Patrick's day and that you're either at, or on your way to, your neighborhood Irish pub to bring in the holiday properly; i.e. with a pint, some corned beef hash, and fellow green-clad drinkers. Now if you happen to find yourself up in Brunswick for the holiday, then chances are you're in the right place to bring in, continue, and finish the day out right at O'Sheas pub on Maine Street.

Irish down to the accent - and the kazoos: Byrnes Irish Pub, Brunswick

Everybody loves an Irish pub. Actually, I think the original phrase is "Everybody loves an Irish girl," but as an Irish girl myself I feel that it is more than appropriate to reword it for a quality Irish experience.

Where ales are poured and politicians are skewered: Lilee's Public House

St. Patty's Day is eerily warm this year, and on Maine Street in Brunswick, the sunlight gloriously blinds at sharp angles. It takes awhile, but sort of like the dream sequence from Happy Gilmore, an Irish flag with the word "OPEN" boldly embroidered oozes out of the white hot light. Soon after, the words "Public House" emerge etched large on the long glass windows across the way. Bingo, I know it's Lilee's, not by name, but by function.

A perfect lesson in beerology: The Lion's Pride

As a Novare Res devotee, I am a little hesitant to wander up to Brunswick and check out the fancy new brewpub and brewery, The Lions Pride, for fear of an unbeatable beer list that might compromise my loyalties.

Brunswick's trustiest watering hole: Joshua's

Feeling like a respite from the same ol' Portland scene, I make a break northward, headed for a college town tavern I'd heard a lot about. After about a 37 minute drive, I hit Brunswick's wide Missouri-like Maine Street, trolling past at a crisp 12 miles an hour trying to find "123," the address where the village's trustiest watering hole, Joshua's, lies in wait.
