Couch to Beacon: Redemption

Shannon Bryan still can't run, but she believes in second chances. She's giving the Beach to Beacon 10K another shot (you know, after last year's tragic failure. But let's not bring that up).

Follow her training through race day: August 2.

On track? Only the 5K will tell for sure

Until this morning I was feeling confident in my training diligence. I've been following the schedule (mostly), steering clear of deep fried foods (on the whole)
and foregoing the afternoon nap (nearly 80% of the time).

But the group e-mail that went out yesterday afternoon from the folks at the Run Walk Company sent me into a near panic:

"I would like everyone to see where they are by participating in either the Weekly Back Cove 5K on Weds., May 9 @ 6pm or The Seadogs Mother’s Day 5K on Sunday, May 13th."

Ahhhhhhhh!

Running a timed race with other people is like the running world's version of truth serum - and I'm thinking that I'd rather not know the truth.

Oh dear, I'm feeling a little flushed...I think I'm coming down with something...Ebola maybe...

Yup! It looks like you MAY be coming down with something....how 'bout eBULLa maybe! LOL!!!!

You've been through this before....remember...the JUST DO IT!!! attitude that got you to that finish line with a great big smile on your face! You're on track to do it again...only this time looking at the ocean instead of the Chicago waterfront & skyline (hey, that wasn't too shabby either!)

So, keep bidding that fond farewell to the new sofa (you know you'll have plenty of time to embrace it AFTER your victory) and kick up your heels, plaster that big ol' smile on your face and STEP IT UP!!!

LOL! OK...this blogging stuff is fun but I really DID NOT intend to double send my note! I tried to send once & got that ubiquitous INTERNAL SERVER ERROR or some such nonsense which made it appear that my message didn't make it, so I hit the "back" button and tried again (with the same result). Be grateful I looked at the blog content before hitting the "post" button a THIRD time >>. I think someone there at moveable type has had a few tee many martoonis!!!

You know, I realize where you got your writing talent. Your mom (I mean your #1 fan) is just as hillarious as you. :) Too bad I'm playing in my golf league on Weds and I'm out of town on Sunday you I'd run the 5K with you. Bummer. YOU CAN DO IT!
