This week: Safe Passage and pets

Start you week off by doing some good for people in need. Safe Passage is a great program that's earned plenty of local support for the work it does for children and families in Guatemala. on Monday night you have a chance to help out and have some fun while you're doing it. Pan Fried Steel will be providing the tunes from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Griswold Quad at North Yarmouth Academy on Main Street in Yarmouth where you can move to the beats. Can you think of anything better to do on a Monday night that only costs $2?

One last chance to see The Shrew

There's a big sigh when another Friday rolls around. You made it through another week and now it's time to put work behind you and enjoy a few brews and some local tunes. The best place to do that tonight is at Empire Dine & Dance, where All the Real Girls will be joined by Eric Bettencourt for a 9 pm show. It costs $5 to get in, but you're worth it. And so is the music.

Follow up your pilates with a little Allagash

If you're a dad, hope yesterday was good for ya, even if all you got was a sculpture made out of macaroni.

Or maybe you're one of those hip dads that spent the day lounging with a Miller Lite in one hand and a margarita in the other. So you'll need me to start you off a little slowly this week. No worries. I can do that.

Heading toward the big day for Dad

Summer weekends zip by way too quickly. Right now it may seem like a long way 'til labor Day, but before you get to the beach enough or drink even half of that summer brew you've got stored in the basement, fall will be barreling down the highway.

Another week - another list of freebies

There's plenty to not like about Mondays: Having that first cup of coffee in the car while speeding to work instead of on the back deck with a cig in hand; knowing that lunch today with be 30 minutes - not one minute longer - rather than a three-hour long grazing fest; the outfit you've been wearing for the last 56 hours won't cut it at the office.

Getting cultured and moving planes

When Friday finally rolls around you probably start thinking about happy hour as soon as you take that first sip of morning coffee. If you can just survive the next 8 hours at the office there will be an icey cold brew waiting for you - somewhere.

Recover this week with a breather, and then some music

I'm guessing you're in recovery mode today after all the great tunage that was heard at the Old Port Festival yesterday. And that's OK. It is a Monday after all and I'm guessing if you didn't make it to OPF it was because your Sunday was so jam packed with fun things to do.

Make plans for Art Walk and OP Fest

It's the first weekend of June - ALREADY! Time to find a clean T-shirt, turn all those returnables into cash and go do something. If you don't get your act together the summer will be here and gone before you noticed (or have been noticed by that cute guy with the spiky hair and the cool shades) and boy will you be sorry.

June's perfect for music and Shakespeare

It's June already people. JUNE! Who can believe we're already into the sixth month of 2009? Unfortunately we still have to watch our pennies but at least we know there's plenty of cheap summer entertainment coming up.
