Hit me with your best shop

Okay, shoppers. T-minus 41 days 'til Santa, 21 to Hanukkah, 39 for Festivus and let's just split the difference for Chrismukkah. Any way you party, the holidays are nearly here, so let's jump right in.

If the thought of long lines, impossible-to-shop-for loved ones and last minute, do-it-yourself presents nauseates you, then this blog's for you. I promise to guide you through the most awkward of office parties, family dinners and mistletoe moments...or at the very least leave you well-heeled for the occasion. Because, sure, everyone needs a little therapy during the holiday rush, and this is equal parts what-to-buy, what-to-wear and how-to-survive relatively unscathed.

So tune in for the season's Dos and Don'ts (Re-gifting? Yes. Impersonal iTunes gift cards? No.) and also Spotted: quick hits of must-have things, places or people. I'm counting on contributions from the gallery on this one – what have you seen that's fantastic? Whether it's off the rack or on a passerby, snap a picture, send a link and I'll feature it. Let's get it started with today's:

Spotted: A new stock of women's shoes at TJ Maxx. Marc Jacobs among them(!), but better are the Calvin Klein python t-strap platforms for a low-low $34.99. They didn't have my size, so someone please buy them and wear them well so I can live vicariously through this footwear find.

Question: What do you think is going to be the hot scarf style this winter??

Kate, I have a quest for you. I'm looking for a harness boot made by Bearpaw that I cannot find to save my life. I take size 9. JL Coombs used to carry them but they are sold out.

Wow, how cool of you to include Festivus among the year-end holidays! We're going to have a Festivus party this year...there's some really great stuff coming out now relating to the holiday, like an actual aluminum pole at http://www.festivuspoles.com and LOTS of fun Festivus stuff (including Festivus cards, party invitations, mugs, etc.) at http://www.cafepress.com/hoganstore/1782703 . And I see you referred to regifting...looks like someone is a closet Seinfeld fan!

South Portland doesn't have the only TJMaxx in Maine. You might be able to find those dream shoes in your size in Brunswick or Rockland.

Love the Festivus link! Jenn and Monica, I'm on your questions...I'm trying hard to embrace the coming winter weather this year with some good-looking gear.
EG, I've never been to the Rockland TJs, thanks for the tip! I think Brunswick has the best shoe selection, actually, and I've also had good luck at the Biddeford and Augusta locales too. And if you go all the way to Bangor's Maxx'n'More you can occasionally find Prada. Now you have me thinking...A TJs road trip is in my near future...

Maybe the truth about daisies is that they're really alien vegetation brought by another life form to slowly, quietly take over human kind. Or maybe it's just that daisies are pretty.
