It's Not My Birthday
Well, actually it is. That's just the name of a They Might Be Giants song I like a lot. I got some cool new cds for my 18th birthday: Dinosaur Jr.'s Beyond, Rufus Wainwright's Release the Stars, and Frank Zappa's Lather, a compilation the man put together himself before he died. One of my good friends got me a very sweet Led Zeppelin movie poster for my dorm next year.
The two biggest presents were concert tickets for two shows. I'm going to see The Polyphonic Spree in Boston at the Avalon on July 2nd and Rufus Wainwright at the same place on August 21st. I'd like to thank my mom and Dr. Rock'n'Roll for making this all happen.
I am pumped to see both shows, but I am ecstatic about The Polyphonic Spree show. I didn't even know they were coming to Boston. I guess they announced more dates for their tour on Thursday, and there was no way I could have known, because I was too busy going to school, working, and attending the Everyday Visuals show. I've seen live videos of The Polyphonic Spree, and I know that this concert will be amazing. You can read my article about the band to see and hear why.
I got tickets to for the Tool concert right here in Portland on July 13th. I am excited about that as well. Tool only got together last year after their four year hiatus, so this show should be pretty big. I got one of my good friends a ticket, and it'll be the first show we've been to together since System of a Down and Weezer in the summer of 2005.
I promise that I will post the Everyday Visuals concert review and They Might Be Giants cd review very soon. Everything that has happened today has been quite a surprise for me. Tonight I'm going to my high school's prom, so more fun will be had.
On a completely different, non-musical note, Blizzard Entertainment announced Starcraft 2 today. The original Starcraft computer game was released in 1999, so fans have been waiting for a very long time. I'm very excited, and now I feel stupid that I sold my copy of Starcraft. I need to buy it again very soon, so I can get pumped up for the sequel. Find more about the game from the creators of World of Warcraft right here.

Happy Birthday!
