Download the new Nine Inch Nails album free and legally!
Nine Inch Nails has released Ghosts I on The Pirate Bay, a peer-to-peer network infamously known for the pirating and distributing of illegal copies of records, movies, games and other media. But The Pirate Bay doesn't just distribute illegal media. It distributes anything people wish to upload, and that includes legal copies of Nine Inch Nails' latest album (well, only the first volume).

How could they do this? Don't they belong to a record label? What will the RIAA say? Well, if you don't remember from last Fall, NIN's frontman Trent Reznor announced his declaration of independence from record labels. Nine Inch Nails is free to do what they want now, and one of the big things they're doing now is shaping the future of music distribution.
We first saw the pay-if-you want model of online album distribution with Radiohead's In Rainbows and it didn't take too long until Saul Williams released The Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust with co-producer Trent Reznor (coincidence? not at all!).

Though Nine Inch Nails doesn't intend to release their entire album Ghosts I-IV free and legally, they're hoping listeners will try out the first volume of the album and then decide if they want to pay $5 to get the complete album. And then there are the super-expensive collector packs, but only the diehard fans will fork out so much money.
So if you like what you hear from Ghosts I, be sure to support the band and purchase the entirety of Ghosts I-IV for a mere $5.
