Wicked Music Videos: Pt. 8
Happy Halloween everyone!
Want to see something absurd? Say hello to the absurd and electronic music of Baltimore's very own Dan Deacon. I won't say anymore. Enjoy.

Of Montreal at The Roxy - 10/12
A few weeks ago, I saw Of Montreal at The Roxy for the second time this year. Brooklyn based Jungle/Psychedelic Rock band MGMT was the only opening act of the night. I was very disappointed to discover that Philly hip-hop duo, Grand Buffet, did not show up. However, MGMT put on a fairly good performance, and Of Montreal wowed me once again with their crazy dance party theme.

Here's the latest music video from experimental group Animal Collective. They just released their latest album, Strawberry Jam, in September. Strawberry Jam is undoubtedly the pinnacle of Animal Collective's strange and creative talent. Expect a review of that sometime this month.
Warning: This video is extremely weird and trippy.
Enjoy.

Mark Gennarro Band CD release show on Friday!
My good friends of The Mark Gennarro Band are having a CD release show for their new EP, Suit Up, The EP. Fellow comrades Will Gattis, Passing Lane, and Jaeger Wells will be playing along with The Mark Gennarro Band. The show will be at the North Deering Grange Hall in Portland. There is a $5 cover charge, and the doors open at 6:30 with the show starting at 7.
The Mark Gennarro Band is a rock band straight out of Portland, having competed in the 23rd Annual Reindeer Rock-Off, coming out in 7th place overall. Kegan of The Cheese Grater Experience says that The Mark Gennarro Band is "a combination of ZZ Top and The White Stripes." Be sure to check out their music on their Myspace.
Will Gattis is an up-and-coming piano rocker in the Portland area. He has recently won the title of "Maine's Best Singer/Songwriter" in the Maine Songwriters showdown. He won $400 worth of recording equipment and a free day in the recording studio among other prizes.
Passing Lane is a four piece band from Portland that plays a mixture of rock, funk, and jazz. They won the 22nd Annual Reindeer Rock-Off, and they are currently promoting their upcoming album.
Jaeger Wells is a pop-rock singer/songwriter out of the Portland area. He describes himself as "one part Elvis Costello, three parts radio pop, and a little bit of everything else." He is currently promoting the release of his new EP, Bastard Pop.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to go to this show, but I encourage everyone else to check out these fine young musicians. See you there (in spirit)!
The Everyday Visuals video shoot and sleepover!
Over the weekend, I had the unique opportunity to host The Everyday Visuals at my house as they prepared for a video shoot the next day. They needed a place to stay, so my mom offered our house to stay for the night. It was a bit stressful to prepare the house for five guests, but it was well worth it in the end. We ended up having a fun time: eating lasagna, playing the Nintendo Wii, and watching some good ol' Mystery Science Theater 3000.
My mom's fiance, Stephen, better known as Dr. Rock 'n Roll of Face Magazine fame, took some random footage from TEV's night at my house. This video will give you an idea of what went down:
The next day was the video shoot for their single "Dance and Holler" from the 2007 release Things Will Look Up. I was offered to be an extra for the video, so I accompanied them on the trip to an office building in Biddeford where the video was being shot. I also took some pictures and video of the shoot. You can find those after the cut.

Today I have a special theme for my Wicked Music Videos series, and it's VIDEO GAMES! Woo! I love video games (except sports games)! Here is a music video from Dutch organ-drum duo zZz. This video was filmed live all in one shot. It's a pretty remarkable piece of art. Enjoy.

I forgot one important tidbit about Radiohead's new album...
As commenter Jack pointed out on Monday's article, Radiohead is allowing fans to purchase the new album, In Rainbows, for whatever price they want. Are they serious? They are. They are leaving the price of the album up to you. It's a pretty friggin' sweet deal. If they weren't Radiohead, this would be a pretty risky thing to do, but since they are Radiohead, I'm sure they are going to perfectly fine with sales.
Stereogum has reported that Radiohead is going promo-free for In Rainbows. This is even riskier, but since Radiohead is so well-known, promotion sorta does itself. I mean, just look at me. I'm doing exactly what Radiohead wants. I like them, so I'm going to write about them. It looks like everyone wins. Except...well...the big record industry, because Radiohead is pushing them aside for this upcoming release. Good job, Radiohead. I salute you!
Radiohead's New Album Coming Out In 10 Days!
In a very unexpected move, Radiohead has just announced that their forthcoming album titled In Rainbows is coming out in 10 days. This is madness, but no, this is not Sparta. Find out more about this exciting announcement under the cut!
