Who's Eligible?

We invite broad community participation by providing free access to six categories of groups:

Nonprofit organizations
Towns and government agencies
Schools, colleges and universities
Civic groups
Religious groups
Recreational groups

What's Included with a Free Site?

When your group joins Maine Communities Online, it receives a listing in the Group List, group training from Alina Blakesley (our community organizer), and a web site that can be customized to suit your group's needs. If you like, you can request a "look" from one of the following ready-made templates:

Nonprofit
Religious
Environment
Teacher's web site
Towns and Cities
Clubs
Arts and Entertainment

Your web site includes a home page, about 100 additional content pages (or up to 5 MB of storage space), a calendar, a message board, live chat, and the option to create sub-sites beneath your group site. Programming language is not required, however, if you know HTML or work with FrontPage or others HTML editor, you can easily upload them onto your site.

How Your Group can Participate on Maine Communities Online

Already have a web site? We can create a free web page with a link to your official site. Want to promote your group's events? We can create a free web page with a dynamic calendar where you can post your group's events from your own computer. You can include events in any channel calendar or the Maine Communities statewide calendar on the homepage. (Apply below and check "Please add a calendar to my site.")

If you're interested in establishing your group as a part of this online community, fill in the signup form below and we will contact you to set up your site.You will need to become a registered user before your site can be set up, so please do that now if you've not done so already.

All fields are required:

Your username (you'll need to register first, if you've not already done so)
Group or Organization
Group Administrator (please designate a point of contact between us and your group. This person will be the one responsible for the maintenance of your site.)
