System and Software Requirements

Computer
Your computer must be able to run a standard browser such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. For best results use a PC with 486 microprocessor running at least a 75 MHz, or a Pentium running at 100 MHz or faster with at least 8 Megs of RAM. For a Mackintosh computer, use a motorolla 68040 processor or a Power Mac. You can log on at your local library if you don't have access to a computer.

Modem
Maine Communities Online uses forms for data input and display. The higher the modem speed the quicker it is to access web pages. For best results use a 28.8 bps modem or higher.

Internet Connection
You can connect to Maine Communities Online at home, work, library, school, or internet cafe. All you need is access to the internet and a browser.

Browser Specifications
Browsers must be version 3.0 or better for proper display of the Maine Communities Online site. Browsers must be HTML 2.0 standard compliant for viewing pages and some administration tasks. For complete administration tasks browsers must be at least HTML 3.2 standard compliant such as Netscape 3.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0. For America Online users: obtain the latest browser patch from AOL (AOL Keyword "get95" for Windows users, Macintosh users must have AOL 3 or better).

E-mail Address
Maine Communities Online registered users need an e-mail address to participate fully. Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and Lycos all offer free web-based e-mail. You can access your e-mail from any computer which has internet access and a browser. Group administrators can send e-mail to their group members on any computer with internet access and a browser.
