Step 7 - Listing your web site in appropriate channels

You can associate your web site with any number of searchable channels (categories of interests). For example, a Cycling Club web page might be listed in several channels: sports, recreation, family, and hobbies. Maine Communities Online has thirty top-level channels and about forty sub-channels. New sub channels are being added as needed. Follow the steps below to list your group in the appropriate channels.

If you've not already done so, go to your web site at http://mainetoday.koz.com/maine/yourgroupname.

If you've forgotten your alias (the last part of that web address, "yourgroupnamehere") go to channels & search and search by keyword or go to the group list and find your site in the list. (You can use these links or the blue buttons found on any Maine Communities Online web page.)

Next, you'll need to log in. The two fields on this screen are case sensitive, so you need to type both your username and your password exactly as you did when you created them. If you have lost or forgotten your username or password, contact Alina Blakesley at ablakes@mainetoday.com

Once you have found your web site and logged in, you'll be able to select the "Web Site Manager" button at the top of the homepage.

Scroll down to "Preferences" and select "Change Web Site Channel Listings"

The column on the right shows available channels and the column on the left shows the channels your web site is currently listed in.

To select a channel, click on a letter, e.g. R for Religion, to view sub channels and choose one that fits your group. When finished, choose "Done."

To format the channel listing link, click on the "Edit Page" button on your home page, then scroll down and click on "Format Channel Links."

On the next page, make your selection as in step 3, then choose "done."
