Maine Humanities Council is a private, nonprofit organization
dedicated to engaging Maine people in the power and pleasure of
ideas. We support community programs in cultural heritage,
contemporary issues, reading and literacy, as well as enrichment
programs for teachers. The Council awards grant funds to
nonprofit organizations for public programs in the areas listed, and
offers many of its own programs in these areas.

United Methodist Church
Peoples United Methodist Church began a ministry in 1994 called "A
Circle of Friends" a global ministry designed to foster
relationships through fellowship with churches of all faiths around
the world. Through A Circle of Friends, we maintain on-going
friendships and open dialogue between our church families, discussing
topics regarding our churches, our communities, nations and world
affairs. It is a chance for all of us to be in direct contact with
our brothers and sisters everywhere and to advance a common desire
for peace for all of God's children.

A community of active citizens in Midcoast Maine dedicated to peace
and justice
Habitat for
Humanity
Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit Christian housing ministry, works
in partnership with people in need to improve the conditions in which
they are forced to live. Habitat challenges people of compassion to
provide the initial capital-through gifts and no interest loans to
build or renovate simple decent homes. Constructions is a cooperative
venture between volunteers and home buyers.Houses are sold at no
profit and with a no-interst mortgage repaid over a 15 to 25 year
period. The house payments are recycled to build more houses. Work is
underway in Habitat projects thoughout the U.S. and in many other
countries.

The World Affairs Council of Maine is a nonprofit organization open
to the general public whose purpose is to promote statewide education
and understanding of international affairs through diverse
programming.
