Maine cookbook to appear on the Travel Channel's "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern"
Maine cookbook author Kate Krukowski Gooding will be featured on the Travel Channel's "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" at 10 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The segment, shot in June at Gooding's home on Mount Desert Island, shows
her preparing recipes from her popular cookbook "Black Fly Stew: Wild Maine
Recipes," the second edition of which is available in more than 100 stores
and half a dozen online outlets. Gooding and Zimmern together prepare Beaver
Chili, Bean Hole Beans, Bull Moose Steak and Black Fly Lemon Muffins with
real black flies. This segment is part of an entire show featuring Maine
foods and chefs.
Gooding has been cooking for more than 40 years and creating culinary
delights for the last 19 years at her annual Winter Solstice gathering. A
self-trained chef, Gooding released "Black Fly Stew: Wild Maine Recipes" in
September 2007 to critical acclaim. Her appearance on the Travel Channel is
her third televised feature in a year that has included book signings,
cooking demonstrations and a rapid expansion of outlets carrying her
cookbook.
