Two Charitable Events Bookend Ten Days for the Arts in Midcoast Maine
This June, midcoast Maine is host to a 10-day arts festival celebrating Maine's role in American art. Cellardoor Winery kicks off the 10 days with their second annual Pop the Cork event in support of the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) on June 18. The bookend event to the festival is the Farnsworth Art Museum's Maine in America Summer Gala honoring Robert Indiana on June 27, for which Cellardoor Winery has signed on as the lead sponsor.
Pop the Cork 2 is a multi-venue extravaganza celebrating arts, culture, wine and food in support of the CMCA Distinguished Artist Exhibition, YOU ARE HERE: Linden Frederick, Studies and Paintings. This exhibit celebrates long-time Maine resident, nationally-renowned realist painter Linden Frederick; 100% of all proceeds from Cellardoor's Pop the Cork event will benefit CMCA in Rockport. (Last year, the Farnsworth Art Museum was the beneficiary of the first-annual Pop the Cork.)
Charitable giving is an integral part of the Cellardoor mission. "I was raised to appreciate the value and importance of charitable giving, and it's a belief I carry over to my operation of Cellardoor," said Doulton recently. "I believe businesses and citizens bear some of the responsibility of helping our arts communities thrive. I am particularly excited about hosting Pop the Cork 2 to benefit CMCA this year, and I am proud to lend Cellardoor's support."
Doulton continued, "All of my, and Cellardoor's, donations are made with the hope that I am not just writing a check, but can see a lasting benefit for the next generations # for education and community. Hopefully our support will encourage other organizations to get on board in support of the arts as well."
Doulton has also supported the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, the Maine Community Foundation and various other Maine-based non-profit organizations.
Cellardoor's Pop the Cork 2 will be held in multiple venues throughout Rockport, including CMCA, on Thursday, June 18, beginning at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $75 per person and are on sale now through Cellardoor by calling (207) 236-2654 or emailing tickets@cellardoorvineyard.com.
