Kindle's Top TEN Reasons to Save the Dates
10. Kindle to be relocated from the USM campus to downtown Portland, aka 'the Cultural Corridor' from Monument Square to Longfellow Square.
9. We will be in fellowship with a number of Congress Street institutions and enterprises that collectively, all within a five minute walk of one another, offer a considerable blueprint, quite capable of accommodating the anticipated 450-600 participants.
8. We are building an uber-cooperative with eight non-profit organizations that we find especially creative, doing important work well, and that value efficiency. Truly modeling social enterprise this cooperative is as much social engineering as it is social experiment. Bring your lab jackets! (Taking nominations for social enterprise-minded non-profits that have an interest in the environment and / or social justice. Email ted@kindledinme.com if your mission-driven NPO is ready to benefit from an an active partnership).
7. Kindle will intensify focus on local visionaries and area projects (area being Northern New England, with an emphasis on Maine&NH). Much shorter plenary discussions (18-25) minutes and more skill-building workshops in the afternoons will keep everyone on the tip of their creative toes. (Taking nominations for workshops and plenary speakers- email Eben@kindledinme.com ) Deadline June 15, 2009.
6. Kindle enhancement will include an overarching theme of bridging the 'millennium' perspective with the 'baby boomers' more classic vantage. 'Emerging Leadership' and how to make room for them will inform many of the conversations over the weekend. Innovative ideas sought: email Eben@Kindledinme.com with your creative suggestions.
5. In advance (June, July, Aug, Sept) we will be offering a number of pre~Kindle 'Bonfires' a series of in-the-wild dinner parties which will in many ways resemble the conference itself: local, organic produce, provocative presentations by area change agents, dynamic entertainment, with soulful moments set aside for reflection. A bonfire will accompany each dinner. (Two hosts selected, looking for two more! Email Eben@kindledinme.com)
4. Join us for a midsummer Swashbucklers Ball- an island-based environmental scavenger hunt is underway and making way. Teams of four will compete for prizes while raising money for our scholarship pool. (Looking for Bucko Mates and Bully Skippers willing to help organize. Email Ted@kindledinme.com Also, seeking pirates & wenches willing to be kidnapped, and held for ransom! Email Eben@kindledinme.com)
3. Message simplified:
Kindle: Illuminating Ideas, Igniting Imaginations.
In other words: a place of gathering (conference, colloquia, chautauqua, symposium, etc.) for those desiring a roadmap for living a simple, juicy, joyful, abundant and balanced life in the 21st century.
2. Price Reduction! Like all small businesses we have been eager to find innovative ways to reduce our overhead without a reduction of polish, panache, or provocation- and to pass along the savings. We are pleased to offer a 30% price reduction on 2009 tickets:
Two-Day all-inclusive Passports at $175.00
Early Bird rate (purchased before June 30!!) ONLY $145.00
1.More Scholarships: 150 seats to area agencies that manage humans on the outskirts of society enabling them to attend and benefit from the wisdom and knowledge being made available. (Naturally educators, students, farmers and activists will be able to attend on a reduced rate. Email Eben@kindledinme.com for a simple application form.
SOooo six months out we invite, encourage, entice, beseech everyone to MARK your calendars early, TODAY! October -as we all know- fills up fast.
Save the Dates: Friday & Saturday, October 16 &17th, 2009.
