Former Port City Life Owner and Publisher to Make Career Change

With the spirit of fall in the air, new endeavors abound, including at North Yarmouth Academy (NYA). The school will soon welcome Laurie Hyndman, former Owner and Publisher of Port City Life magazine, to their admissions office, where she will serve as the new Director of Admission.

Port City Life magazine was acquired earlier this year by Kevin Thomas and Susan Kelley, publishers of Maine Home+Design, who recently re-launched the magazine as Maine. Thomas spoke about Hyndman's work on Port City Life and her new venture at NYA. "Laurie built a great foundation for a lifestyle magazine and really captured Maine's unique flavor. We know she will bring the same passion, skill, and dedication to her new job at NYA, fostering a great culture for the school," he noted.

Hyndman, too, is thrilled about the new direction her career has taken. "It was a privilege to capture the unique quality of Maine and share it with our readers for the past seven and a half years. I met amazing people and worked with a great team at Port City Life. Now I'm joining a new team and look forward to telling NYA's story to families who want an academic program that builds character through challenging academics, a strong fine arts and music program, and great athletics. This is an exciting time. I wish Kevin and Susan well as they embark on their new adventure with Maine magazine."

The new Maine magazine launched on August 27. Its second issue is planned to hit newsstands on October 1.
