The 1st Annual Shipyard Pumpkinhead Bash at The Landing

Doors open at 8 pm Friday, October 30, 2009

A big-time Halloween bash on Halloween Eve, featuring great tunes by DJ Greg Powers, cash prizes for best costumes, martini and Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale specials, wicked treats – and a very busy dance floor. Costumes encouraged (and expected!). A "Pumpkinhead Express" shuttle will be available to and from Park and Ride on Marginal Way. (21+ event) Tickets: $20 per person Add $5.00 for Pumpkinhead Express transportation from the Portland, ME Park and Ride (I-295 Exit 7, near Marginal Way and Franklin Arterial). Shuttle leaves Portland at 8 pm and 9 pm; returns from The Landing at 11:30 pm and 12:30 am. The daughter of back-to-landers, Novella Carpenter wanted to find a way to combine living in the city with farm-fresh food. She did just that. In her book "Farm City," she tells about turning an abandoned lot next to her inner-city home into a mini-farm. WMPG (90.9 and 104.1 FM), the University of Southern Maine's community radio station, hosts its "Watch Your Language!" game show before a live audience Sunday. The two 30-minute episodes celebrating the quirks of the English language will be broadcast later on the radio and on Community Television Network (channel 5).
