How was your weekend?

If you're like most of us, Monday rolls around and you wonder where the weekend went. We live in Maine -- Vacationland, for pete's sake -- and more often than not we don't take advantage of the possibilities to enjoy it.

That's something we at MaineToday think we can help with. We're renewing our commitment to rounding up great ideas for your weekend, and making it easy for you to get to them.

One new feature is the "Weekender" newsletter, which goes out by email on Thursdays. Ace producer Shannon Bryan selects only the finest weekend events for your consideration. Sign up on the home page or just go to the "Hello (State Your Name)" link at the very top of this page and click on "Your email newsletters."

We're also cranking up the Seen machine, and shooting photos of revelers at hot weekend events. So on Monday you can regret what you missed (or attended). For example, check out the happy faces at the Maine Brewer's Festival last weekend

Coming up, we're about to launch a brand new events system that's the best we've seen anywhere. Our ultimate goal: collect and present every upcoming public event in Maine.

What else would help you enjoy Maine more? Speak up below:

Hi Joe! I have a little suggestion! Add a "Blogs" section to the top nav-bar. I find it a little inconvenient to go to the front page every time if I want to browse through all the MaineToday blogs.

Besides that, I really like how the new look has come along. It has definitely grown on me!

I agree with some of the first commenter's sentiments about having to sift through the blogs. You may want to put more focus on the recently updated blogs, by that I mean in the last day or so.
Currently on the lead in page (as of about 2:30PM on 12/13/07)you feature 9 blogs of which 4 have not been updated in a week or more. The one with the "BIG" space was last updated on 12/03/07. Providing a better sorting mechanism for recent updates would be a big help to make it seem more current and up to date. You might want to make it a policy that blogs with their latest posts being more than 10 days old get moved down the list. You may just want to rethink whether blogs have passed their prime as was predicted would happen this year.
