Blogger Missing in Action
How many times I have told myself over the past couple months to get on the computer and blog away are too numerous to count. It seems there was always some excuse. After the Holidays I'll be less busy, or, when everyone in my house is feeling healthy, or, no one wants to hear what I have to say, and on and on the excuses piled up. I can't tell you what finally lit the fire under my butt today, but I realize that there is never a perfect moment (or one moment it seems) for me to sit down and write, so I just need to do it.
Don't get me wrong. I love blogging. The trouble is that it is easier for me to blog in my head (aka talking to myself), than it is for me to find the time to write it down. So I just need to become more disciplined and get to it. I hope I am not alone in this struggle. I have a feeling that even though I could not find any Procrastinators Anonymous in the Yellow Pages, I would be able to put together a few people to form a support group, but somebody will do that later, Right?
So what has this procrastinator mother of six been up to the last few months?
Just like you, I've been celebrating holidays, attending school functions, nursing sick children back to health and trying to find my balance with my roles of mom, wife, and businesswoman. Finding balance is never easy and I have found it really is a journey more than a zen-like destination. This journey can be made harder if you are a person filled with anxiety and guilt about your role as parent, partner and employee. I have recently developed a class through my business, Family Life Consulting LLC, that addresses this challenge. The class is titled, "Parenting from Within - How to be the parent you want to be without giving up the person you are". This class is currently being offered through Cape Elizabeth Community Services (799-2868). Registration is open to all. The dates are March 5 and 12 from 7-8:30 pm. Class size is limited and cost is $30 per person or $45 per couple.
Taking this class will not solve all your parenting problems, but it may just remove some obstacles in your path so your personal journey will be a little smoother.
