Countdown to Adventure
T-Minus 1 day until the Bowe clan leaves on our summer adventure. I am not naive enough to call it vacation, because a vacation it will not be. To me vacation is uninterrupted time to relax, read, and sightsee leisurely. Now adventure, on the other hand, is venturing to the unknown, being prepared to face new challenges, and hopefully enjoying yourself along the way.
Today is scramble day. We are trying to pack and organize what we need to bring. I have, in my error, not bought all the right things in preparing for this trip. As you may or may not know, my greatest concern was entertaining the almost three year old for 48 hours in the car. So I have new matchbox cars, new playmobil figures, new markers, paper, stickers, books, you get the idea. Now, not that this stuff is bad, it is just as I am now packing clothes today, I realize I may have neglected a few things.
"What do you mean you only have 2 pairs of pajamas?" We do laundry all the time at our house, so I never realized that some children have been wearing the same pajamas over and over. They are clean mind you, but the same two pairs. This is playing out over and over. Whether it is with socks, underwear or swimsuits. Oh well, there will be stores along the way and we will have washing machine access when we arrive at our destination.
Well, I need to get back to packing and somehow containing my children's excitement. We will be off soon and as much as we have tried to prepare for this road trip, a true adventure cannot wholly be prepared for.
