FAMILY

Notice my first last name. BROCHU.

I kept it because I am proud of my family of origin. My father is one of eight children, six remain. My Meme and Pepe raised their children with a work ethic that is unparalleled in this day and age. Their children have had children, and now those children are having children. We are a huge family. Many families are splintered, or there are members within that are fighting. Not my family.

You may have heard our name in the news in the last few weeks. My dear Aunt Louise had her life taken by some unknown monster.

We are being tested, and in times such as these, the BROCHU'S will rise to the occasion, however unwanted it may be.

We laid her to rest last weekend. Though we were forced to bury her, we knew that we needed to give justice to her life. We needed, despite the way her life was taken, to celebrate the person that she was. And that is what we did. Along with 500 to 600 people who attended the service. What a testament to the person that she was. She is loved. Louise will not be forgotten. He may have taken her life, but he will not diminish her spirit.

One constant throughout this trying time is my family. We are in this together.
I look forward to the time when we can bring this person to justice. We have hope that he will be found, tried, and put behind bars.

Until then, we have each other.
