Happy Halloween!
I hope you all enjoy these pictures that I took at the Scarborough Pet Quarter's annual Halloween pet costume contest on Saturday.
I shared the judging responsibility with Dr. Rita De Mereuse DVM of Scarborough, and it was a good thing that there were two of us. We had 51 entrees, all dogs except for a few cats, a ferret and a guinea pig, and the lengths that people will go to never ceases to amaze me.
The prizes were generous. First place cat and dog each won free Nutro pet food for one year. We also awarded two $50 dollar certificates for most creative and best kid/pet costume as well as four $25 gift certificates for 4 runners up.
The pictures really do not do the costumes justice.

Zoey "Princess" from Otis Field
Winner-runner up

"Biker" and owner April, Portland

"Uffa the UPS Truck" of Gorham, Winner Best costume. This one cracked us up. You can't read it on line, but below the logo it says "What can brown do for you?"

"The Scarecrow", "Sylvia" from Dunham, had a most elaborate costume that was all hand stitched and very detailed. The way the dog walked on her straw toes had to be seen to be believed. Extremely cute! Winner - most creative

This is another picture that does not do the costume justice. "Goldie Locks and the Three Golden Bears" was also very detailed. The puppy is even wearing a hand made knit cap and a diaper! They are Jenna, Blaze, Caitlyn, and Bailey of Scarborough. Winner- Best Kid costume

"The Pug-Kin Patch" Puppy and Sissy, of Portland - Winner - runner up.

"Crouquette" of Kennebunkport was THE cutest "flower" and Winner - runner up.

Cute enough? Winner - runner up-"Little Bo-Peep"- Woody and his little girl Thea of Standish.

Harley from Standish

Noah a service "Clown" from Vassalboro wore a completely hand made clown costume.

Joel, a service "Cheetah" from Topsham, in a completely hand made costume.
