Losing 40 pounds, gaining balance

So ten weeks have come and gone.

I've got to say, I'm very sad that it is over, but know what to do for myself moving forward.

I'm really going to miss being with my new friends twice a week Catherine, Jon, Alexandra and of course Shannon. They have grown to be an extended family of mine. I'm sure we will stay in touch and I wish them all the best in everything they try to accomplish in life, which will be a lot. This was a life-changing experience that I'm so happy I went through.

The year started with me being over weight and in an overall bad place. I now can look back and truly say "wow." I can't believe how much I have changed.

Let's start with the physical side of things:
40.2 lbs lost
Size 38 pants to 34
XL shirt to L
Muscle definition in areas that have not been uncovered in my lifetime.

The biggest thing, I believe, is that I have regained the happiness in all aspects of my life and truly have achieved balance. What's next for me is to become the best role model my son and wife could ever imagine. I plan to organize a 5K in the fall to help the homeless in Maine.

I also want to tell people out there that there's always time to become better as person physically and mentally. You just need to start at The Landing or wherever you choose and follow through. When times are tough talk to someone you trust to get you to that next spot on the hill of success and beyond.

The Landing gave me a gift I could never repay and I know I will try to make them as successful as I feel today going through this quest. The one thing I know I will instill in my son and everyone I touch along the way in my life is live everyday to the fullest and help the people around you. I truly think it will make you richer then anyone that walks this great planet.

Thank you to everyone that was part of "The Quest for Your Best" I will remember this for the rest of my life.

Keep your eyes peeled for the July 9 issue of Switch magazine. The Questers final "before" and "after" photos and story will be revealed then in print and here on Mainetoday.com
