Saco Spirit's ninth annual Pumpkin Festival once again gives folks a chance to add their carved pumpkin to a huge pumpkin display, which is lighted at 5 p.m. Events during the day include music and dance performances, a Halloween party for your pup, trick or treating and the Headless Horseman Parade. OCTOBER 27
Port Veritas resurrects its Dead Poetry Slam in honor of Halloween. Competitors in the slam must read work by - you guessed it - dead poets. Costumes and props encouraged. The evening will also feature guest musicians, poets and performers. Go to portveritas.org for information. 7 p.m. (open mic sign up), 8:30 p.m. (slam). Saxman and vocalist Karl Denson and his Tiny Universe are touring in support of the band`s latest album, "Brother's Keeper." The album was released last month.
