Commercial
Property and General Liability
The Commercial
General Liability Policy provides insurance protection
needed to pay damages for which the insured is legally
responsible. Major coverages include bodily injury and
property damage liability, personal injury and
advertising injury liability, and medical payments.
Coverage can be expanded or restricted with
endorsements. Property and Business Continuation
coverage insures buildings, business personal
property, and loss of income due to damage from
covered perils. Professional liability protects
against claims arising from your acts, errors or
omissions in the furnishing of professional services
or advice. Directors and Officers Liability protects
against claims for negligent acts, errors or omissions
alleged to have been committed by present or former
directors and officers of your corporation. Umbrella
and Excess Liability provides a higher limit of
coverage for extra protection over scheduled liability
coverage, to act as primary coverage if your
underlying limits are exhausted, and to provide
coverage for some risks when your primary coverage
does not.
Auto,
Truck and Fleet
The liability
portion of the commercial auto policy provides
protection against legal liability arising out of the
ownership, maintenance, or use of any insured
automobile, including business-owned vehicles, hired
autos, and non-owned autos driven by employees for
business purposes. The coverage includes legal defense
costs in addition to the policy limits. Medical
payments coverage will pay medical and funeral
expenses incurred by an insured because of bodily
injury caused by an accident, regardless of fault.
Collision and Comprehensive coverages provide
protection against physical damage or loss to business
autos.
Commercial
Crime
The Commercial
Crime Policy can be purchased with a variety of
coverages, all protecting the business from criminal
acts. Examples include Employee Dishonesty, Forgery or
Alteration, Theft, Disappearance and Destruction,
Robbery and Safe Burglary, Premises Burglary, Computer
Fraud, and Extortion.
Workers
Compensation
This coverage
provides payment of benefits to an employee who
suffers a work-related accident or illness. Benefits
are paid to the employee without regard to fault.
Policy limits and requirements are established by the
workers compensation law or occupational disease law
of any state listed in the policy. Employers are
protected by statute against other work injury
liability except where due to extreme
negligence.
Employee
Benefits
A variety of
benefits components are available, including group
medical, dental, vision, long term care, group life,
short and long-term disability insurance, and Section
125 Cafeteria Plans. Businesses may also purchase
insurance to ensure business continuation or to
indemnify the business for loss of a key employee.
